ToCloud |
A Word Cloud is a visual representation of some text as a bunch of words based on a weight
associated to each word. Typically, the frequency (keyword density) of the words in the page is used as the
weight even though some other metric might be used. ToCloud is an online free word cloud generator that
uses word frequency as the weight. Hence, the generated word cloud of a page gives a quick understanding
of how the page is optimized for certain words. ToCloud is also smart enough to extract phrases and
works much better than most other word cloud generators on the web. The word cloud of a blog, news page,
feed will give a quick idea about what topics are being discussed.

If you have a blog or an account with social networking websites, you can use ToCloud and display a word cloud of your pages and impress your friends and visitors. URL of the page for which the cloud has to be generated.
Or simply paste a bunch of text in this field and cloud it.
The cloud can be displayed alphabetically, by frequency or by first occurance. In alphabetical mode,
the words are sorted alphabetically. In frequency mode, the words are sorted based on their frequency.
In first occurance mode, the words are sorted based on their position of first occurance in the page.
The font size of each word in the word cloud is based on the frequency of that word
in the page. So, words with higher frequency appear larger than those with lower frequency. The
font size is hence interpolated based on the frequency. However, this interpolation can be
either linear or logarithmic. By default logarithmic interpolation is used so that the font sizes
are generally large. However, linear interpolation can be used to display the cloud in absolute
numbers. If some words are hard to read in linear interpolation, then logarithmic interpolation
can be used to display the cloud in relative numbers.
ToCloud is smart enough to extract phrases that occur multiple times in the text.
Choose this option to display only the phrases in the cloud.
Give a title to your cloud.
Use this to specify the minimum frequency of words required to be part of the cloud. Default is 1. You can either specify an absolute number or a percentage. Percentage is relative to the maximum frequency. So, if the most frequent word in the page occurs 50 times and a threshold of 20% will pick only those words that have a frequency of 10 or more.
Use this to limit the total number of words in the cloud. You can either specify an absolute number or a percentage. Irrespective of the sort order used, the number of words is always limited by the top N determined by the frequency. Leave this blank to include all the words.
Use this to display the frequency next to each word/phrase. By default it is not shown, but shown as a tooltip when the mouse is placed on a word. However, this option is useful when creating an image of the cloud.
ToCloud already filters several stop words in English. However, additional stop words can be specified. For example, a blog may contain words like Comments and Permalink which can be filtered. Provide a list of such stop words separated by a comma (,). The words are case sensitive.
ToCloud is integrated with script.aculo.us effects! You can choose to not use an effect, choose a specific effect or let it be a random effect. Note that the effect looks much better in embed mode.
A few websites offer cloud creation like ToCloud. However, ToCloud is the first website, to provide the ability to merge the clouds of two pages into one and display the results together. This is very useful for webmasters and SEO specialists.
